Hints for Pokemon Platinum!!

Lucky Egg - In my own experience, bring a Pokemon with the Compoundeyes Ability (Butterfree, Nincada, Some Yanma and some Venonat) which boost the chances of finding a Pokemon that is holding an item (That Pokemon has to have a chance to hold an item in the first place though).. Then go hunt down a Chansey and either, Switch to a Banette with Frisk to check the Item or just use Thief/Covet. You have a decent chance to find a Lucky Egg but you can get a ton of Oval Stones out of this.


Rare Candys - This is for Platinum only!! What you need is a High Leveled Pokemon that has Covet/Thief. Now, go to the Pokemon Mansion on Route 212 and take the "5 Maid Challenge". One you defeat the Maids, hope that it's the Master that Appears (I don't think it works with the Lady) and Start the battle. First turn, use Thief.. The Blissey the Master has holds a Rare Candy, just don't waste a turn because it always uses Fling first turn..

Good Pokemon to use here:

Mix Tyranitar

->Dark Pulse
->Theif
->Brick Break
-> EQ (Earthquake)

Also, make sure its FEMALE

Cynthia:

Spiritomb - Silver Wind, Psychic, Dark Pulse and Shadow Ball... Try to either put it to Sleep or Toxic Stall it, this thing has no weakness and is a tough Pokemon to battle if you aren't prepared!! With its moves, Steel Pokemon will be laughing at the small amount of Damage this thing can do ^_^

Garchomp - Giga Impact, Flamethrower, Dragon Rush and Earthquake. This is one lean mean killing machine.. It is Dragon/Ground which means a 4x weakness to Ice.. But before you fly in there with your Mamoswines, it carries Flamethrower to counter that Weakness, carrys Dragon Rush and Earthquake to down Dragons and Steels, and then Giga Impact for sheer Power.. My usual Idea is to send in a weak Pokemon because it occasionaly Giga Impacts them, then send in your Ice Types for the easy win. It holds a Sitrus Berry to add to your troubles.

Togekiss - Air Slash, Aura Sphere, Water Pulse and Shock Wave.. You would think: Togekiss + Air Slash = Hax-a-thon.. But no, Cynthia's Togekiss has the Ability Hustle instead of Serene Grace, so Hax won't happen as often as normal. Just use Ice or Electric types to bring this down.

Roserade - Energy Ball, Sludge Bomb, Extrasensory and Toxic.. This is no problem to a Specially Defensive Bulky Steel Type. Roserade isn't to bulky so just hit it with Ice, Fire, Flying, Psychic or even Ground Moves.. It goes dowm to most of those Typed moves which most teams carry at least one of.

Milotic - Surf, Ice Beam, Mirror Coat, Dragon Pulse. DO NOT Hit this thing with Special Attacks.. You will get them Bounced back at you for double Damage.. Just bring an Electivire with ThunderPunch and this Pokemon should be a cake walk. (Walled by Shedinja ^_^)

Lucario - ExtremeSpeed, Aura Sphere, Shadow Ball, Stone Edge.. This thing cannot take an Earthquake or a Close Combat so get your Torterra's ready to destroy this thing. Aura Sphere is the move to watch out for though.. Perfect Accuracy + STAB + 90 Base Power = a strong move..

I did read the whole post! And I read that Garchomp had a Sitrus Berry, but I didn't read anywhere about Garchomp being the only one with an item.

Also, I thought Spiritomb had Embargo. Or is that just for D/P?

I never heard of the 5 maid challenge before, so i tried it and i was like, oooohh im gunna get a special prize! But then gamefreak decided to be a little
and made the last maid have endure on their clefairy! So i didnt win the special prize

I wonder if gamefreak put codes on for that one battle so you cannot burn the clefairy by luck or something and kill it in 1 turn and recieve the special prize

Casey, Spiritomb has Embargo in Diamond and Pearl. They swapped it out in Platinum.

Shnoogle, the last maid is an absolute nightmare to take down because of Endure.. She always screws my Delcatty over (It carries Covet to steal items)

I think im gunna try it with a t tar like the average battler suggested

Oh crap i just checked and clefairy has magic guard Dx
So the prize is just to get you excited and then crush your hopes and dreams

I used to use my Infernape in the battles.

Try to wait till you have 9 turns to beat them, it makes it a whole lot more annoying, because you gotta hit the 9 turns perfectely.

I am sure they have Cute Charm. I am not 100% sure though..

You get set an amount of turns to kill them in.

Very rarely you have to beat the 5 Clefairys in 9 turns.

oh i beat em in 6... The goal was five but my staraptor failed to kill when that clefairy endured that close combat

Maybe you should add something up there so people like me do not get disappointed lol... Like "just so you know, it is impossible to get the prize... That is all"

I have 8 Rare Candys outta this.

Use a Mix-tar, and you wont fail the Maid Challenge.

mine was a random nature, but the moves were:
Dark Pulse
Theif
Brick Break
EQ

The prize is to battle the Master/Lady of the Maids.

That is all.

The Master has a Blissey with Fling holding a Rare Candy.

Well, that's a sucky prize, considering it just flings a perfectly good Rare Candy for nothing but to frustrate you.

And that is why you use Theif/Covet the first turn.

I swept Cynthia with a Non-EV Trained Houndoom. I EXP-Shared Houndoom through the E4 (while losing to Cynthia or Lucian) multiple times as a Rapidash replacement.

Then I just messed around once...

Togekiss doesn't matter.

I managed to get to Lucian with a Bounce-Karp, but Bronzong then proceeded to wall me
