PostSubject: Gallade: Trick'd Ya!   Wed Feb 03, 2010 4:34 am

I often randomly search to come up with movesets, and here's an interesting one: a peculiar anti-lead Gallade.

Gallade@Choice Scarf
4 HP / 252 ATK / 252 SPE
Jolly
Steadfast

-Hypnosis
-Trick
-Thunder Wave
-Close Combat

This Gallade can serve a few different purposes; the first is being able to pull off a speedy sleep-inducing move through Hypnosis. Although that shaky 60% accuracy is unappealing, it hits more often then not. Second, we have the TrickScarf + Thunder Wave combo often seen on TrickScarf Uxie. If I come up against a lead immune to sleep (Primeape, for example) or with the ability Early Bird (Houndoom, Kangaskhan and friends), I can Trick them a Choice Scarf then proceed to cripple the speed boost by using Thunder Wave. However, some Primeape leads hold a Scarf of their own, making it a tricky decision (no pun intended). Last, this Gallade can clean up for me with its powerful Close Combat.

Constructive criticism is appreciated. Thanks! Razz

I like it. I think it's fine as is but it won't work for the reasons you say; nobody is stupid to switch in a primeape to a gallade; that's a OHKO with SR up (ensure sash breaks)

Nobody uses early bird either; houndoom and kangashkan always opt for the greater advantages of their other abilities.

Anyways I've stopped relying on sleep too much because more accurate sleep moves (sleep powder) seem to miss a lot for me, so I suggest you slash in psycho cut over hypnosis just as a suggestion; otherwise ghosts will run all over you, as I can't think of any uu ghost that doesn't benefit from a scarf (excpeting NP mismagius or a rotom stuck on a status move) or commonly carries trick... however this gives you problems with spiritomb either way...

Anyways though, looks like a fine set IMO.

This makes me sad. I like your sets, they're fun to review most of the time!

I agree, your sets are the most fun to look at, you inspire ideas with me sometimes lol. Anyway, I disagree with Gastrotress, ghost leads aren't too popular, and if somebody wants to counter your set then they'll have to switch out, you, in turn can then switch into a ghost counter and then it'll be an even playing field. You're not going to have coverage for everything with four slots. I like the set and although hypnosis can be a risk I think it'll come in handy. Even if you can't set up, the Gallade can still be useful.
