hey guys, this is my first topic, and i'm gonna explain the switch in/out strategy.
switching is helpful when either your pokemon cant take this hit you're predicting from your opponent, or your pokemon has low hp and you gotta use keep it for later use.
prediction is sometimes easy (mostly in the OU metagame) but it's sometimes difficult (mostly in the UU metagame)
so now let's give some examples, shall we?
1: you have a gardevoir at 10% HP and you have a Scizor against you.
2: you have a regirock that you know it can't survive shaymin's earth power.
3: your jolteon is up against a gyarados with poison and low hp.
okay let's see what could we do here...
1: immediately switch a registeel or a solo steel type, because scizor's most common moves are: X-scizor, bullet punch and u-turn, which are all resisted by Registeel, beware of brick brick and superpower though.
2: switching into a flying type like Staraptor is your best option, you can use brave bird and wipe shaymin outta existence, but in this case, he/she might also predict that you'll use brave bird and switch into a Rock and/or Steel type, which can put you in a bad spot, but still you can use close combat predicting that switch and close combat can also 2HKO that shaymin.
3: it's hard to predict here, since gyarados can use stone edge, Eq and waterfall...
but since it's poisoned, you can use either protect, baton pass to a pokemon that resists most of gyara's moves, or just switch into one, but it's still hard to take down a gyarados, if you decide to go offensive against it, you might see a switch in to a ground type too so be aware of that.
phew, i hope you get what's prediction now, and if you still don't, please post a comment on why you don't and ill try to explain it to you, thanks for reading and I hope this helped
